The Watermelon Stand how we got our name...

Welcome to The Watermelon Stand, where each piece is a heartfelt creation crafted by me, Lisa. My story is as colorful as the vibrant decor I create, and it all began back in the early 90s when I earned the endearing nickname “The Watermelon Lady.” Back then, the art of decorating with all things watermelon was in full swing, and my local craft shows were bursting with creativity. Picture a booth brimming with everything from tiny wooden watermelon ornaments to charming watermelon chairs, showcasing 14 different styles of folk art. It was an incredible time that sowed the seeds for my passion for craftsmanship.

Over the years, my style has transformed alongside trends. While I still carry the watermelon spirit, I’ve evolved into a painter of flowers and designs that celebrate individuality. My journey led me from country to shabby chic, where I became known as the custom painter clients trust for their unique visions. Whether it’s a wall, a dresser, or a serving tray, I love infusing each piece with my love for art and design, turning ordinary surfaces into one-of-a-kind treasures.

Calligraphy has been a second written language to me since middle school. I’ve had the joy of teaching this beautiful art to nearly 200 students, even sharing it across the globe in Japan. The fusion of painting and calligraphy allowed me to create decorative painted poetry—each piece is a story in its own right. My newest venture? Chalkboard Art Signs! They’re a fun way to convey messages in a hand-painted style that brings warmth to any home.

You might wonder how herbal products fit into this vibrant story. Well, The Watermelon Stand is still a nod to my roots, and I've expanded to share my love for herbal remedies grown right here on my little farm in North Florida. As a trained Clinical Herbalist, I mindfully craft herbal products infused with the same care I put into my home decor. From duck eggs sold locally to soaps once made with our goats' milk, my self-sufficient homestead remains an integral part of the shop.

Although I frequently use "we," it’s very much a one-woman show. Every design, every brushstroke, and every piece of decor is carefully crafted and packed by my hands, ensuring that when you receive your order, it’s filled with love and attention to detail.
